Students at Campbellton Middle School invite the public to join them in supporting a national bullying campaign started by a Bathurst student.

On Dec. 17, students will be wearing blue in recognition of Blue Day, a day to recognize anti-bullying initiatives across Canada. founder of Blue Day and the website www.bullying www.bullyingcanada.ca, Bathurst student Robert frenette said “Bullying is a global problem. It is something we are not only experiencing in our classrooms, but we are also experiencing in our workplaces and our communities.

The more awareness we have, the better we can curb it.”

Frenette wants to make Blue Day a national day of recognition and support for individuals and groups who are working to eliminate bullying.

Students will be signing a petition asking that Dec. 17 be declared Blue Day. The petition will travel to Ottawa at the end of December.

All who would like to support this campaign by signing the petition are asked to drop by the school at 80 Arran Street, Campbellton.

(Campbellton mayor Bruce MacIntosh read a proclamation at the Dec. 8 meeting of city council that proclaimed Campbellton to be a community striving to be bully free and encourages all citizens of Campbellton and society in general to take a stand against the problem of bullying.)
